Over the last few weeks I’ve brought you my favourite bodycare, skincare and products I didn’t rate in 2015. I’m going to wrap up my look back at 2015 with my favourite makeup products. None were new products in 2015 but they were all new to me!
Everyone knows that Urban Decay produce some of the best eyeshadows a girl can get her hands on. I think I have at least five palettes and a few singles knocking around my stash. But if you pushed me to pick my second favourite product it would have to be their 24/7 eyeliners. I have quite a stash of these as you can see (bronzey brown Smog is my favourite!) so I was very excited when Urban Decay kindly sent me their new 24/7 waterline eyeliner for review, I did a lot of oohing and ahhing when I opened the package.
I don’t regularly write favourites posts as sometimes I’m just a creature of habit and sometimes I forget to properly appreciate some of the new products to join my stash. But I had a real bumper month in October, mainly because it was my birthday so I have a few new favourites to add to my collection.
I’m sure it’s happened to you at some time, you read all the rave reviews and decide you simply have to have that product! As a beauty blogger there is constant temptation and I really have to try and control myself. But I do regularly get caught up in the hype and buy the latest buzzed about product. There is nothing more disappointing to me than when I’ve forked out a substantial amount of money on a product only to be slightly underwhelmed by it. Here are some products that I don’t get the fuss over…
Ok lads, this has to stop… my beauty spending is getting very out of control! My mum was heading to Florida recently so I sent her off with a little shopping list for Sephora and I’m already regretting the things I didn’t add to it which is ridiculous – you have enough stuff Sarah!!! So I am putting myself on an 8 week complete ban on buying any beauty related products, that’ll teach me to get carried away. But don’t worry I will show you what I got in Sephora…
I was such a lucky duck this Christmas I got some lovely bits for my makeup collection. My sister came up trumps and bought me the amazeballs Vice 2 palette from Urban Decay. You know any palette from Urban Decay is going to be exciting and I was delighted to get this one as it’s something different to the Naked range.
Oh now I am sure I won’t be the only one writing about this as the ‘Favourite Eye Palette’ for the September Beauty Blog Challenge (find out more about this here). I tried to be all cool and original and find a different one that I love as much but I can’t really ignore it I’m afraid. If you love neutral eyeshadows and I don’t imagine there are many women who don’t, you have to own this, simple as. I am actually probably wasting my breath as you all probably already own this, ha ha
The brush you use with your base makes such a difference to how your foundation looks and lasts. For years I never really appreciated a good foundation brush and applied my foundation with – *gasp*– my fingers.
My first foray in the foundation brush world was my trusty Bobbi Brown flat foundation brush which I’ve had for almost 10 years. Though I have to say a flat brush wouldn’t be my go to brush for foundation. It’s good for placing product where you want to blend it but not the best for blending itself. If I am blending with a flat brush I hold it at the end and move the tip in light circles across my face to spread the product.
Ah I love me a bit of Urban Decay! Ever since the Naked palette exploded, I’ve been trying more and more of their products. I bought this Smoked Eyeliner set on sale in Debenhams for about €30. I think I bought this in April, so I’m not sure it’s still available but all of the shades are available separately so it’s worth a look!
The eyeliners are called 24/7 Glide on Eyepencils. They do last well but I’m not sure that you’d get the full 24 hours out of them. They’ll definitely last a night out on the town. I’m nervous about eyeliner as I wear contact lenses so sometimes my eyes can be watery. But these eyeliners last really well with minimal smudging. They do take some effort to remove. You’ll need a good eye makeup remover to get these off.
I do love a bargain and was very excited to see an Urban Decay palette pop up as a Groupon deal. It was half price at €18 and I think about 300 of them were sold of course and the deal sold out. What a bargain – did you get it? I now assume Urban Decay must be discontinuing it though because last time I checked it was half price on the US site. I thought I’d give it a road test anyway as a lot of the shadows are sold individually.
I do love Urban Decay eye shadows, they’re so strongly pigmented and they have such an amazing choice of colours. I own the original Naked Palette and a few of the single shadows and they never fail to impress.
