Sunday Catchup

Hi peeps Happy Sunday, hope you’re having a nice relaxing day! In this weekly post I’ll give you a quick run through of what I’ve been writing about, other blog posts I’ve enjoyed and any beauty bits I’ve bought!

What I’ve been writing about this week…

this week ost

Well my brows are a little unruly and I heard friends rave about the Benefit Gimme Brow but I think it’s just a little too pricey. When I saw this similar product Brow This Way from Rimmel I knew I had to try it out. It does a great job but my only gripe is that the wand needs to be about half the size.

I’ve seen such great reviews of Ziaja Skincare that I knew I had to give the Sensitive range a try. I trialled the Sensitive Face and Body Cleanser which I think is a great dupe for the Cetaphil cleanser. I also tried the Enzyme Peeling Mask which is a very close contender for my favourite Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel. You can read my full review here.

Blog posts I’ve loved this week…

If you’re not familiar with the Irish company Nima Brush you should be! It’s a great range of brushes lovingly developed by owner Niamh Martin. Niamh is just about to release a brand new collection of beautiful brushes called The Artistic Collection. Lisa at Pink Sugar attended the launch of the collection this week and wrote a lovely post capturing the hard work Niamh has put into her beautiful new range.

I love having a snoop at what’s in other peoples makeup bags and this week Danielle over at LilliWhiteRose showed us what she brings in her travel makeup bag. I loved her picks and definitely agree on the Wet n Wild palette and the Rimmel concealer. I really want to try one of the MAC pro longwear blushes.

Makeup Monster herself wrote a great post about the current products she’s trialling. I can’t wait to hear how she’s getting on with the Neoastrata Pigment Controller as I’m constantly looking for a new product to tackle my pigmentation. I can second the love for the La Roche Posay Hydraphase Masque, it’s a great skin saviour!

What I didn’t buy this week…

I was very good and bought nothing this week, whoop! But it’s just a temporary break as I’m saving my money for the Pro Beauty Show which is happening on the 5th and 6th October in the RDS. I have no doubt I will be picking up a few bits at that!

Well that was another blogging and beauty week! Hope you had a good one xx

What I’ve been writing about this week…

On Tuesday I wrote about the relatively new Image Skincare Iluma Lightening Serum. I have been trialling this for seven weeks now and I think it’s a great pick if your skin is prone to rosacea, It helps calm and soothe skin.  It didn’t make a massive difference to the pigmentation in my skin though.

I’ve been thinking about some of my beauty blogger habits which is why I wrote my Confessions of a Beauty Blogger post on Thursday. A lot of my fellow bloggers have agreed with me so I’m glad to know I’m not alone!

Blog posts I’ve loved this week…

If you haven’t heard about the arrival of Charlotte Tilbury in Ireland where have you been hiding?! Her range is a treat for the eyes and all the reviews I’ve seen so far say the products are fab quality. Nurse Fancy Pants herself Chloe wrote a great review about the FilmStar Bronze & Glow Face Sculpt & Highlighter which I think might be my favourite product I’ve seen. The packaging is a sight to behold!

Emeraldeyeliner wrote a great post about the Classic Stila Convertible Colour. She has some collection of them and the post made me want them all! I think I’ll have to pick up Peach Blossom very soon.

What I bought this week…

rimmel

I was very budget conscious this week as I’m getting paid soon. Dealz do some great branded cosmetic offers and every so often you can luck out with some really good products. I managed to get a Rimmel Apocalips and Scandaleyes Liquid Shadow for just €1.49 each when each would normally be about €7 each. Bargain!

Well that was another blogging and beauty week! Hope you had a good one xx

What I’ve been writing about this week…

post this week

I was seriously impressed with the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer. It really brightens up the eye are and covers dark circles. I also found it soothing and moisturising. It’s a real winner in my book!

Sleek have introduced a new range of Love Gel Nails polishes. I picked the Revolver shade as I think it’s a nice neutral shade for Autumn. The polish isn’t massively shiny but it lasts really well.

Last but not least I wrote about the brilliance of the Real Techniques Retractable Kabuki brush! This brush is a great addition to any handbag. You can use it to apply powder, bronzer and highlighter and it’s kept nice and hygienic.

Blog posts I’ve loved this week…

Andreea over at Your Beauty wrote a great post about her favourite photo editing apps. I’m trying to improve my photography on the blog so I will definitely be checking some of them out. At the moment I just use Picasa to do some basic cropping, I need to up my game!

Like many beauty bloggers I love Temptalia for really detailed and high quality swatches of products. Christine posted the new Rihanna Viva Glam Swatches on Friday, the browny coloured lipstick and lipgloss really don’t appeal to me, even Christine herself looks a little unsure! She also posted about the MAC Rocky Horror Show collection which everyone is very excited about!

What I bought this week…

Ritz Carlton Powerscourt Pool

Powerscourt Hotel Pool

Well I didn’t buy any products as such but I did buy a beauty experience! I treated myself to a spa day in the Espa spa in the Powerscourt Hotel (previously owned by the Ritz Carlton). I reviewed this spa here last year and I’m happy to say that the standard hasn’t changed one bit. I had a blissful aromatherapy massage, facial and lunch all for the bargain price of €120 – this is their great value September Slumber package which I highly recommend. The spa is so relaxing and has beautiful views of the Sugarloaf Mountain from the relaxation area and ladies thermal suite.

So that was another beauty and blogging week, hope you enjoyed yours xx

What I’ve been writing about this week…

this week

This week I took a little trip over to England to visit a friend of mine. So on Monday I wrote about the pain of packing Carry On Cosmetics. It’s such a pain trying to whittle down your stash but I don’t think I did too badly!

I knew I’d be away for a few days so I decided to use my Essence Gel Nail Kit to do my nails. It means I get about 5 days chip free and I can just peel the polish off. I used the lovely Essie Romper Room with the Maybelline Brocade polish in knitted Gold.

I went a bit mad over in England and spent a little too much in Superdrug! I know I can buy most of the products here but I got carried away because I was on my holidays!

Blog posts I’ve loved this week…

Samantha over at All The Buzz wrote a great post about getting more people to read your blog here. It’s got some great tips for anybody just starting out. I don’t get crazy views on my blog but I just love that anybody at all is reading it! My main tip to get more readers is to be passionate about your blog. If you are passionate about your blog that will shine through in your content and people will really want to read it.

Total Makeup Addict herself Aisling, wrote a great post here about private label makeup brands. I’m a little uncomfortable about the idea of private labelling, I just feel if I was setting up a makeup brand I would want the product itself to be original as opposed to just the packaging. It’s not to say the makeup is bad quality but I just prefer brands where I know the brand has done all the product development.

What I bought this week…

superdrug haul all

I bought so much this week that I dedicated a full post to it here. Despite feeling guilty for spending so much I really like everything that I bought so far!

So there you have it – my blogging and beauty week. Hope you enjoyed your week xx

What I’ve been writing about this week…

weeksposts

On Tuesday I wrote about my bargain purchase of the Real Techniques Sam’s Picks brush set. It’s a quality selection of six face and eye brushes. The brush I have gotten the most use out of is the Multi-task brush, it’s great for applying powder and bronzer.

I’ve been having a tough time with my dry skin at the moment so on Thursday I wrote about the fab La Roche Posay Hydraphase Intense Masque. It’s a real saviour for anyone who has dehydrated and sensitive skin like moi.

Blog posts I’ve loved this week…

Kat over at Dolly Rouge wrote a great post about products that last and stopping your makeup from sliding off your face. The post included a fab looking tinted spf from Shiseido which I am going to try. I’m also a Max Factor fan so I really want to try the Facefinity primer.

I love Max Factor mascaras so I was nodding along to Sinead from The Beautiful Truths review of the Max Factor Clump Defy Extensions Mascara. It goes on so easily and just gives good length and volume to lashes but without any clumps. Sineads’ photos really show this off!

Also I just spotted this great post from Vicki at Lets Talk Beauty. In this she picks her top 5 products from the British Beauty Blogger Dream Box which I also got. I must pick my top 5 products. I like all of the products she picked apart from the Better Than Sex mascara which I didn’t get on with for some reason!

What I bought this week…

BoughtSunday

Well I finished up for two weeks holidays (yay!) on Friday so I had to pick up a few bits for my trip to see my friend in England. I had run out of my Revlon Colourstay foundation so I had to get a new bottle. I also wanted to try out the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer so I bought a tube of that. I also decided I’d try the Dark version of the Cocoa Brown for a holiday glow!

So that was my blogging and beauty week. Hope you enjoyed your week xx

What I’ve been writing about this week…

sunday1

I’m not having great luck with some of the new products I’m trying. This week I reviewed the Vinylux 7 day polish and after trialling it twice it chipped on me both times on day three. It was a bit disappointing as I know loads of people who love it. On a more positive note on Thursday I posted about some products I’m really loving at the moment including a great blush palette from Makeup Revolution and the famous This Works Deep Sleep Spray.

Blog posts I’ve loved this week…

Rachel over at Oh Hey There Rachel! had a lovely post showing a natural smoky eye look using a very pretty Gosh Palette. I wish I had half the style Rachel has when I was 16 which was unfortunately a long time ago!

Last week I mentioned I was lusting after the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder palette well now the want has doubled as they are releasing a palette of the blushers! Yvonne at One For the Wishlist captured the want for this in her post this week.

Aisling at Total Makeup Addict did a really really comprehensive post about French pharmacy brands. It’s a great read if you are planning on visiting and want to do some beauty shopping. I lived in France many years ago and really didn’t take advantage of all the beautyness, mainly because I was a poor student!

What I bought this week…

boughtweek

Well my spending restraint didn’t last too long but I wasn’t too spendy this week. I had a Boots discount voucher for €6.50 off No7 skincare so I bought the Beautiful Skin Cleansing Lotion for dry skin. It costs €12.50 but cost me just €6 with the voucher. I found another bargain in Boots on their clearance shelf! They had this cute Soap and Glory set which contains generous mini sizes of the Clean Girls shower gel, Scrub Em and Leave Em body scrub and The Daily Smooth body lotion. This was half price and cost just €10.75. I really don’t need it but couldn’t pass it up at that price!

So that was my blogging and beauty week. Hope you enjoyed your week xx

What I’ve been writing about this week…

Weeks posts

This week I was a bit dissapointed by the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. It makes some very big claims but it just didn’t live up to them for me and it’s not a cheap buy. I also wrote about the fab Makeup Revolution Run Boy Run palette, I cannot recommend the Makeup Revolution palettes enough. They’re such good quality for their small price tag.

Blog posts I’ve loved this week…

Aundrea over at Dancing With Disaster wrote about her bargain Skinician Glycolic Peel salon treatment she had recently for just €39. For that price I’m definitely getting me one of them!

Emma over at Fluff and Fripperies wrote about the latest launches for the MAC Mineralise range. Some of the gold hued shades look so luxurious. I love the Mineralize range so I think I might have to invest in some newness.

I’m such a bad beauty blogger I do not own one single product from NARS. Makeup Monster shared her favourite picks from NARS this week. The NARSissist Palette is such a lovely palette, I want!

What I’ve wanted this week…

I didn’t buy anything this week, woo hoo! I have though added a few products to my ever expanding wishlist. I really want to try the new Trilogy Age Proof Hydra-Tone Softening Lotion, it’s basically a moisturising toner that softens skin, it sounds just perfect for my skin. I think its launching in September so I will definitely by buying this. I’m really loving my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder at the moment so I really want to get the trio of powders but they ain’t cheap.

So there you have it that was my blogging and beauty week. Hope you had a great one too! xx

What I’ve been writing about this week…

On Monday I wrote about my most favourite top coat in the whole world from Essence. I really think it is a good dupe for Seche Vite but I would be interested to hear what you think. It’s definitely worth trying as it costs just a few cents over €3.

I also wrote about my love for the Skin 79 BB creams. I have been wearing the purple one non stop since I got it so I’m really happy I bought them!

My nail of the week the week here was from No7. They’ve released their version off the ‘gel like’ polish. It’s very pretty but I don’t think it can compete with some of the other gel polishes out there.

Blog posts I’ve loved this week…

The ladies over at Viva Adonis were on fire with their posts this week I really enjoyed them. They wrote a great post about their favourite 15 products under €15 here. You know me, I love a bargain so obviously I want them all, the No7 cleansing oil in particular is calling me!

Rachael over at Overdose De Maquillage wrote about here lovely collection of MAC eye shadows. I don’t own many but I really want to add more to my collection. I’m ashamed to say I don’t own Satin Taupe, such a classic!

Lovely Girlie Bits always do a great vid but you simply have to watch the July favourites here just to see Karens much love for the L’Occitane fragrances! I want all of the things now!

What I’ve bought this week…

sunday catchup buys3

Ah I thought I was going to be really reserved this week but it’s only when you put them all together that I realise how much I bought. Firstly I bought the Vinylux polish which I’ve been meaning to try for ages. In Penney’s I picked up the cute makeup bags and the facial wipes. I don’t use the wipes for my face, I just use them to clean my makeup storage! My Mam also came back from her hols in France with three bottles of Serozinc for me, I really missed that stuff! I really am going to try be more restrained next week, I hope to be telling you I bought nothing!

So there you have it that was my blogging and beauty week. Hope you had a great one too! xx
