I’ve always been a little skeptical about primers in general. I’ve used a few over the years and I find I use them for a few weeks but they generally just fall off my radar. The other thing I am guilty of is buying things on whim and that’s how this one happened!. I showed you my little Kiko haul a few weeks ago and one of the impulse purchases I made was the Kiko Skin Trainer CC Blur. I bought it because I thought maybe this one was going to change my run of primer luck!
I’m not really a primer fan in general. I’m not keen on strong silicone textures and some primers are just do nothing for me – I’m looking at you MAC Prep and Prime Primer. So I always approach a primer with a sceptical look on my face. I got a dinky pot of this Benefit Stay Don’t Stray eye primer in a minis set last Christmas but it had been lingering around my stash unused. I’ve recently been facing some serious undereye darkness and was finding my concealer wasn’t getting me through the day, so I decided I’d give this a try.
I’m sure I echo many of you when I say I likey Catrice a lotty! My latest lunchtime beauty splurge included the Catrice Prime and Fine Primer. I had been using a Sephora primer that’s quite similar to Smashbox Photofinish but I ran out after having it for what felt like years. Being ‘When are we getting paid again?’ time I splashed out 4 of my hard earned euros on the Catrice primer and thought how bad could it be.
It’s a pink creamy silicone based texture. It’s similar to the L’Oreal Studio Secrets primer. If you have any allergies to silicone or easily clogged pores this may not be for you. It glides on easily and leaves a slightly matte finish and I think the pink hue really brightens the face as well. You can apply foundation straight away and there’s no weird residue that I’ve found with some primers.
