I’ve always been a huge Soap & Glory fan. They’re one brand that has managed to produce equally great products across their bodycare, skincare and makeup ranges. Usually a brand can only do one category really well but Soap & Glory is a bit of an all rounder. Recently unkown to myself and my beauty shopaholic status I accumulated a good few new to me Soap & Glory products. So I thought I’d show you what I bought and take you through some speedy first impressions!
I wasn’t going to write a post about these because I already included these in my 2013 makeup favourites here. I decided that they deserved a full post though because they are that good. My friend Debs got me this set for Christmas, she didn’t know I’d wanted it for ages, so it was a great present.
My poor skin always gets a bit of a shock when winter hits and I think because we had such a lovely summer my skin is super shocked this year! My lips especially seem to be having a hard time and are in a very dry state. I don’t normally get this and they feel quite uncomfortable. I mainly use the EOS lip balm which I do like but I felt I needed something a bit tougher. I had read numerous bloggers sing the praises of this Nuxe lip balm so I decided I’d give it a shot.
Thank god I am on a spending ban for August because I just realised that I have enough lip products to keep me going for years. But this one is something special I have to say. I got this Lanolips Lip Ointment in my British Beauty Blogger Edit Box here. I glanced over it and thought ‘oh another lip gloss.’ It’s not a brand that had really crossed my radar before.
I was so surprised when I actually used this, it is way more than a humble lip gloss or balm. I first swatched it on my arm and was surprised by the thick texture of it. It’s like a thick cream, I expected it to be more liquid like a normal gloss. It goes on lovely and it doesn’t feel heavy or sticky when it’s on. It just feels creamy and nourishing. The shade I have is called Rhubarb and it’s a plummy pink. It’s the perfect ‘I’m not wearing makeup but I am’ shade!
I had been dying to try the EOS lip balms for ages after hearing good things about them. I had also heard people mention the Balmi ones as well as a similar style balm. I ordered an Eos Summer Fruits lip balm from Beauty Emporium. A few days later I was in a chemist and saw the Balmi ones by the till, so decided I’d try that out as well and see if there was a difference.
Now it was either Aoife at A little Infinity or Audrey at The Nail Affair who pointed me in the direction of this brilliant find! I’m amazed this product sort of quietly arrived under the radar. Illamasqua released two limited edition mystery boxes in conjunction with Debenhams. Basically it’s the makeup equivalent of a Lucky Dip bag!
There are two versions the Alter Ego Mystery Selection and the Eyes and Nails Mystery selection. I bought both but today I’m talking about my favourite the Alter Ego. This box contains 6 products. You know you are getting the Liquid Metal in Electrum and a nail polish in Collide but after that it’s a mystery. Well I was very happy to solve mine because I love the products I got! Here’s the haul…
I’ve mentioned before that I’m more of a lip gloss person rather than a lipstick person. I have so many lip glosses lying around in handbags, drawers and makeup bags, I couldn’t tell you how many I have. There are a few of these that I will actively go searching for and the Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker are top of my list.
You’ll either love these or hate these! These plumping lip glosses really divide people. I know some people don’t like the tingling sensation on their lips. I’m not a massive fan of the tingling feeling either but these glosses are pretty tame compared to some I have tried.
I am such a sucker for ridiculously cute things. So when I saw this little lip balm from NYC I immediately thought ‘ahhhh would you look at that, a little apple in the middle’. I couldn’t resist the cuteness so I picked it up. But in fairness it was only €1.50!
