I was recently reminded of the brilliance of this when one of my favourite bloggers Vicki from Lets Talk Beauty was singing its praises. Essence have only recently launched in the UK so the ladies over there are only getting to appreciate the budget amazingness that is Essence. One of my favourite products from Essence and one of my favourite nail products overall is their Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer.
I’m such a sucker for innovative beauty buys and if it’s nail related I’m all over it. I love gel nails but the thing that really puts me off having them done is how difficult they are to remove. I feel my nails are wrecked after and that it’s not really worth it. You’re also limited to one brand and the colours can be expensive if you want to do them yourself at home. Well I think I might have found a solution…
Another Christmassy Nail of the Week! I am gradually branching out with my nail art and trying to so something a bit more complex than dots. I thought how hard can a snowman be, turns out it’s not as straightforward as you might think. I painted the snowman on with the brush and added the details with the nail art pen. The orange polish is by NYC in Spring Street and the white China Glaze polish is Dandy Lyin Around (?). It’s definitely not perfect but it’s a start! What do you think?
The topic for today’s September Beauty Blog Challenge is to compare two or more similar items. I’m a big believer in a bit of blusher doing wonders for the face. I used to be afraid of blusher as I naturally have quite high colour on my cheeks. But now I know how to cover that up and put a cute blusher over it. It really makes a difference to your makeup.
Well who knew but apparently today is International Nail Art Day! (INAD) Now I don’t think there is a parade or anything but I think it’s just a way to promote all the talented nail artists out there. I had a bout of insomnia last night and saw The Nail Affair and Belle Beauty Glam chatting about this on twitter, so I thought It’d take part!
I applied for tickets to Frillseeker.ie launch and I was so happy when I got them. I had a great time at the launch, it was packed! Of course I had to do my nails for such a glamorous event. I chose this favourite nude polish from Catrice. It’s a fab opaque dusky pink, called ‘The Nude Scene’ from the limited edition 40’s Collection. The collection is an oldie but I’ve seen it on some counters in the last few weeks. I of course had to sparkle it up with some glitter powder from Essence Pigments, called ‘Broadway Starlet’. I applied this to the tips with a little concealer brush I got with an eye palette. What do you think?
In her new video Jennifer Lopez wears yellow lipstick nonetheless! Now yellow lipstick is a bit out there for me, imagine turning up at the office with that on! But JLo also has yellow nails in the vid as well, which is a bit more up my street. It’s probably not something I’d wear really often so I opted for a budget yellow polish. I picked up the Essence Colour to Go Polish in 27 below, which was just €1.50. Of course I couldn’t stop at just a colour and had to add an accent nail with Barry M Confetti polish in Sour Apple.
Check out my pinterest board of yellow inspiration here.
This weeks Nail Colour of the Week comes from one of my favourite nail polishes, Rimmel 60 Seconds. I know it’s a cheap as chips polish but I think it outlasts some of the more pricey brands. Below is the 60 second polish in How Do You Lilac It? A lovely pastel shade for summer. I got a bit carried away and decided to add a bit of sparkle. The top coat is an Essence Special Effect Nail Topper, in Glitter on Me.
I’ve been feeling far too spendy the last few weeks. Some of my friends are claiming I’ve only started this blog as an excuse to buy myself more stuff, how dare they! Seriously though I probably do need to reign it in a little. But before I do I thought I’d give you a quick peek of my recent haul.
For the first part of my haul I hit up a sale on the Illamasqua website. They were celebrating reaching a milestone on twitter by having a flash sale with 50% off everything, very exciting. I’d been meaning to try Illamasqua for so long, so this was the perfect opportunity. They’re so daring with their makeup and some of the photos they share on their Facebook page are just stunning. So inspirational for me as I tend to play it quite safe. Below is what I picked up:
