I was at the Flormar launch event last week and makeup artist Leonard Daly had me in stitches talking about the new beauty buzz word strobing. Strobing is basically just highlighting to you and me and sure us beauty junkies have been doing it for years! I love a bit of highlighting especially in summer as it keeps skin looking so fresh and glowy. So I could not resist when I was in Surperdrug in Tallaght recently and I saw this Golden Sugar palette from Makeup Revolution.
Love, love, love cream blushes for the summer. In fact I love a cream blush year round. I find they suit my dry skin and give better colour payoff and last longer than powder blushes on me. I have had these two from Makeup Revolution in my collection for a while so they deserve a good review. As you know I’m a Makeup Revolution fan so have a good few products in my stash. Makeup Revolution have a good reputation going for budget dupes of higher end products and these sticks look to be the budget version of the NARS multiple sticks. To my shame I don’t yet own any NARS so I can’t draw a direct comparison but I’ll let you know how I got on with them.
Two weeks ago I showed you my massive Makeup Revolution haul here and I have been having fun trying out all of the goodies! One of the products I have really liked straight away is this Vivid Blush Lacquer. It’s a liquid blusher in a small container with a pump. I chose the shade Rush as I loved the girly pinkness of it.
I’m having a serious blusher crush at the moment, I’ve been digging into my stash and trying out everything I own as well as buying new ones of course – although no more as I’m on my spending ban till June now! As part of my blusher addiction I recently bought the No7 Pop and Glow Cream Blush Stick as part of my latest Boots haul here.
I spotted this on somebody’s blog/twitter ages ago but I can’t remember who it was! It’s been on my mind ever since, I just had to have it. My lovely nan who knows the way to my heart, gave me a Boots voucher for my birthday recently so I decided to treat myself to this set. It’s part of the ever popular Christmas gift selection from Soap and Glory. It’s a set of three powders in one very cute package called Powder Trip.
Updated 8pm 18/11: Sorry guys I got two of the shades mixed up on this, I updated it now, I clearly had a heavy weekend, apologies!!
The topic for today’s September Beauty Blog Challenge is to compare two or more similar items. I’m a big believer in a bit of blusher doing wonders for the face. I used to be afraid of blusher as I naturally have quite high colour on my cheeks. But now I know how to cover that up and put a cute blusher over it. It really makes a difference to your makeup.
Now it was either Aoife at A little Infinity or Audrey at The Nail Affair who pointed me in the direction of this brilliant find! I’m amazed this product sort of quietly arrived under the radar. Illamasqua released two limited edition mystery boxes in conjunction with Debenhams. Basically it’s the makeup equivalent of a Lucky Dip bag!
There are two versions the Alter Ego Mystery Selection and the Eyes and Nails Mystery selection. I bought both but today I’m talking about my favourite the Alter Ego. This box contains 6 products. You know you are getting the Liquid Metal in Electrum and a nail polish in Collide but after that it’s a mystery. Well I was very happy to solve mine because I love the products I got! Here’s the haul…
I was really excited to receive my first ever Illamasqua order. It’s a brand I’ve been meaning to try for so long as it gets such rave reviews from bloggers and make-up artists. I’m also obsessed with the images they share on their Facebook page, some of the looks are amazeballs, really artistic and inspiring.
A while back they had a 50% off offer on their site to celebrate reaching a milestone on Twitter. So I grabbed the opportunity to buy a blusher, eye palette and nail polish. The Illamasqua website is so easy to use. They have great swatches and videos to show you the colour so you won’t get a horrible shock when your post arrives. The blusher I ordered was this lovely called Tremble.
I’m really ashamed to admit that I only got into contouring in a big way from my guilty secret – Keeping up with the Kardashians – I know, sorry! Those girls have some fabulous make up and are big fans of a well contoured cheek. I’m not entirely convinced that they use their own Khroma Beauty range though, I haven’t had the joy of testing that yet.
There are some great photos on t’internet showing the extreme version of contouring that Kim K uses, I don’t think it’s something that’d work for a day at the desk though! I had been using a combination of my own bronzer, highlighters and blushers for my contouring but I decided I’d give this Sleek Face Form Palette a whirl.
