I was very sad when I recently ran out of my beloved Pixi Glow Tonic, it’s not the easiest thing to get your hands on, which is just testament to its brilliance. It’s now available in Marks and Spencer but any time I’ve been in it’s been sold out. I spoke to one of the girls working there and she said the stock is usually gone 30 minutes after they put it out! I was wandering through Boots recently and saw they had these Nip Fab Extreme glycolic pads on offer, so I decided I’d give these a try instead of Glow Tonic for a change.
I was a little bit reluctant to buy these as I’m not a fan of this type of pre-soaked pads in general. I just feel it’s a bit of a waste, I’d prefer to have a bottle and use my own cotton pads. I know that’s being really picky though and they are very handy to use in a hurry. These pads are the stronger night time version of the existing peel pads. They contain the same 5% glycolic acid as Glow Tonic as well as salicylic, lactic and hyaluronic acids. Glow Tonic is slightly more sensitive skin friendly as it doesn’t contain the other acids and has skin soothing ingredients such as Aloe Vera.
The pads are designed to be used 2-3 times a week or once a week for more sensitive skin. I use mine about 3 times a week but I have been using Glow Tonic for a few years so my sensitive skin is probably quite adapted to acids. You can definitely feel the tingle when you use these so that to me is a good sign that it’s doing the job. I’ve definitely noticed a clarity in my skin especially around my cheeks and these do a great job of keeping the skin around my nose flake free.
I think I will always love Glow Tonic as it’s gentle enough for me to use daily but these pads are a great alternative. They’re also easier to get my hands on and are often on offer in Boots. They cost €19.99 but are currently on offer in Boots for €13.33. I’d definitely recommend these if you’re a Glow Tonic fan!
