Thank god I am on a spending ban for August because I just realised that I have enough lip products to keep me going for years. But this one is something special I have to say. I got this Lanolips Lip Ointment in my British Beauty Blogger Edit Box here. I glanced over it and thought ‘oh another lip gloss.’ It’s not a brand that had really crossed my radar before.
I was so surprised when I actually used this, it is way more than a humble lip gloss or balm. I first swatched it on my arm and was surprised by the thick texture of it. It’s like a thick cream, I expected it to be more liquid like a normal gloss. It goes on lovely and it doesn’t feel heavy or sticky when it’s on. It just feels creamy and nourishing. The shade I have is called Rhubarb and it’s a plummy pink. It’s the perfect ‘I’m not wearing makeup but I am’ shade!
Lanolips is perhaps unsurprisingly made from 60% Lanolin. Lanolin is a type of wax, that comes from sheep’s wool. It doesn’t sound so nice but it is super moisturising. This also contains other super moisturisers such as Sweet Almond Oil and Shea Butter. My lips have been so much softer since I started using this. Lanolips has the added benefit of an SPF15 which is great for me as I can get pigmentation around my lips.
The only teeny tiny criticism I’d have is the flat opening where the product comes out. I like to apply lip products straight to my lips, so I think I would have put a slanted applicator on the tube. But that’s being very nit-picky!
I can totally understand now why BBB picked this for her Beauty Edit Box. It’s one of those little hidden gems that you will have a slight panic over if you can’t find it in your handbag. You can buy Lanolips in some Boots stores for €11.49. Have you tried it?
