Well if I haven’t mentioned it fifty times, I’m just back from my hols in Peru. I had a great time but my poor skin didn’t, a lot of my trip was spent in desert or at quite high altitude and unfortunately those conditions just equal very dry skin. Everybody on my trip was glued to their lip balm and my poor hair was a tangled mess. Luckily the face on my skin was in fairly good condition and I know that was down to the skincare I brought with me. Even though I had limited space in my rucksack I brought some quality minis with me. Here’s what I brought to keep the moisture in…
Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic Mist: I used to have a full size of this years ago and I loved it. My mam bought me a little travel set with this in it recently so it was perfect to bring away with me. It’s the perfect refreshing and moisturising spray for when your skin is a bit flushed or parched. It contains cucumber and aloe vera to help soothe skin. I use a spritz of this just after cleansing.
Clarins Skin Beauty Repair Concentrate (€55): I bought this a while ago and initially I wasn’t sure about it but I don’t think I was using it consistently enough. I used this every day when I was away and it was a godsend to my dry and irritated skin. My skin feels really plump and smooth after using this. Its a small size at 15ml but one pump of this is enough to cover my whole face. I also used this on my hair once as it was in such a bad way and it really smoothed out my hair, probably a pricey solution for every day though!
Clinique Moisture Surge Moisturiser: How am I only discovering this moisturiser now?! I got a generous 15ml sample of this with my last Clinique Bonus time goody bag. It’s just lovely and perfect for my dehydrated skin. It has a cooling gel texture that just sinks in really easily but leaves skin feeling well moisturised. I normally find gel creams don’t moisturise my skin enough but this one is just perfect. I’ll definitely be buying this again when it runs out. It costs €45 for the full size but the small pot is lasting me ages.
This dinky lot really kept my skin feeling moisturised in such harsh conditions. I think I will stick with this routine to get me through the winter months. I’d love to hear your thoughts if you’ve tried any of these. One of my big regrets was not bringing my Nuxe Reve Du Miel lip balm with me, my lips badly needed it. So if you’re going to a dry climate trust me and take the best lip balm you have with you!
