One great thing about the blog is now people know just how obsessed I am with cosmetics, I get some lovely beauty gifts. My friend Steph bought me this great Ciaté Colourfoil set for my birthday – thanks Steph! I’ve been dying to get a chance to try it. This is going to be a longer Nail of the Week post as the set really deserves it!
The set contains a nail varnish, some glue and several different types of foil. It also includes a clear nail wheel but you don’t really need this to use it but I will definitely use it for swatching some varnishes.
I’m not going to lie but it took me a little while to get the hang of this, mainly because I was super impatient and didn’t read the instructions. Basically you paint your nails with any colour and let it dry. This set came with a nice grey polish called Cream Soda, I love this just on it’s own. I never thought I’d like grey shade nail polishes but they’re really growing on me.
Now here’s where it gets tricky if you don’t read the instructions. I cut the foil into little strips that would fit my nails. You dab a bit of glue onto the nail where you want the foil to stick. You don’t put it all over the nail especially if you want to layer different foil colours. When the glue gets a bit tacky you put the foil over the nail – Shiny Side Facing Up!! as I learnt after four attempts. You then pull the foil away quickly and some foil should be left on the nail. There is a bit of a knack to it but the result is super shiny! I used just one colour and really liked the result. Apologies for the messy cuticles, I intended to tidy them up and take the photos in daytime but it turns out the night time photos were much more impressive and shiny!
Whadda ya think? I think it could look better as this was my first go at it. It’s a great little set for the festive season, I can’t wait to try the gold foils for Christmas. This set costs about €25 in shops but I’ve just noticed it’s on sale on Asos here for just over €10, an absolute bargain in my book and would make a great stocking filler for Christmas!
