Caudalie Beauty Elixir Review

Caudalie Beauty Elixir

This is another product I got as part of my Feel Unique Radiant Beauty Box. The Caudalie Beauty Elixir is one of those cult beauty products that I have never tried. The beauty box contained a cute 15ml size of this, perfect for testing this out.

The Caudalie Beauty Elixir is marketed as being ‘Inspired by Queen Isabelle of Hungary’s elixir of youth, this treatment smooths away fine lines, tightens pores and gives the complexion an instant boost of radiance.’  Big claims indeed! This is basically a toner/spritz type product that you can spray before applying moisturiser or to refresh skin.

All the ingredients are listed below but I see that the second ingredient on the list is alcohol which for me is never a good thing.

INGREDIENTS : AQUA (WATER), ALCOHOL*, CITRUS AURANTIUM AMARA (BITTER ORANGE) FLOWER WATER*, PARFUM (FRAGRANCE)*, ROSMARINUS OFFICINALIS (ROSEMARY) LEAF OIL*, POTASSIUM ALUM, GLYCERIN*, MENTHA PIPERITA (PEPPERMINT) OIL*, STYRAX TONKINENSIS RESIN EXTRACT*, COMMIPHORA MYRRHA RESIN EXTRACT*, MELISSA OFFICINALIS (BALM MINT) LEAF OIL*, ROSA DAMASCENA FLOWER OIL*, VITIS VINIFERA (GRAPE) FRUIT EXTRACT*, TOCOPHEROL*, CITRAL*, LIMONENE*, LINALOOL*, CITRONELLOL*, GERANIOL*, FARNESOL*, BENZYL BENZOATE*, EUGENOL* * Plant origin

Lads I’m sorry but I just don’t get the hype for this stuff. The second ingredient in this is alcohol which is really bad for my dry and sensitive skin. They say the alcohol is of plant origin but that doesn’t make a difference for me. It actually burns my face when I apply it! When I spray it my skin feels stingy and don’t make the mistake of getting this anywhere near your eyes. I think it must be the peppermint and other oils that irritate my skin but I’m surprised more people don’t get a reaction to this. I think this is probably more suited to somebody with oily skin as this would probably mattify skin a little.

I rarely write very negative reviews but this just outright did not work for me. My skin is too sensitive for it. Lots of people swear by this so I’ll be giving mine away to somebody who loves it. This is also a good reminder that no skincare product is one size fits all, what works for you may not work for others and vice versa. Always read a few blogs before purchasing, that’s what I normally do!

If you’d like to try this it costs €16 for this 30ml bottle. Caudalie is stocked in lots of pharmacies and department stores, you can also buy it online at Feel Unique. I’d love to hear what you think of this if you’ve used it.

My skin is usually too sensitive for most things so if it’s not working for you I’m sure it won’t work for me! Good to know because I kept looking at this in Space NK and wasn’t sure if I needed it or not!

It’ll probably work for somebody with oily skin that isn’t sensitive but it’s just not for me I’m afraid!

Yeah definitely not for me either! I don’t get it, don’t know why it’s so fragranced either. Was so harsh on my skin! I usually like Caudalie but this was a big no for me.
