I recently got a bit of shock news about my skin :( apparently it has a bit of a temper!

I had been feeling my skin was getting a bit dull and was starting to show its age so I went for two sessions of microdermabraision and started using Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant (which I do like but have learnt not to use too liberally). I thought I was getting good results but my skin started to get oilier. A problem I’ve never had.

Any who I had booked a day at the spa (The Spa at Mount Wolesley – lovely) with mam and had a Mini Elemis Facial as part of it. The therapist asked me loads of questions about my skin regime and told me I was starting to show signs of Rosacea – I had a little internal shriek and thought WTF???

She explained that I had been treating my skin far too harshly and the excess scrubbing was increasing oil production and aggravating my skin. This was making the Rosacea more pronounced – scary mary, I thought I was being good – really I did! The therapist (sorry I’m not protecting her identity, I just can’t remember her name-apols) told me to stop all the exfoliating and try everything I could to soothe my skin.

She used the Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel on me and my skin felt lovely after so I bought a tube on the way out. It was this lovely limited Edition one which I’m not sure is available widely anymore but the normal one is.

It’s a lovely smelling light creamy formula, that contains ‘natural fruit enzymes from African Papaya and Far Eastern Pineapple that helps to gently exfoliate and purify tired or sensitive skin’. I put a thin layer all over and leave for about 10 minutes then rinse it off and remove any excess with my fave new konjac sponge. The product really softens the skin and removes any flakes. I can visibly see the redness in my skin reduce after using this, which for me is the big selling point. I can see why it’s a multi-award winner.

I’ve been using it once a week for about six months rarely using any other exfoliator in between and my skin is definitely in better nick and feels plumper. I’m just running out now so the 50ml tube has lasted me over 6 months so it’s good value for the €35 it cost. I’m using some other calming products which I’ll bring you soon for anyone who has easily angered skin like me!
