Well I broke the blogger cardinal sin and used this product before I photographed it so I would like to apologise if it looks a little messy! I had a gift voucher with a tenner left on it that I had to use up so I bought this new Bourjois Colorband shadow and eyeliner pencil and a nail polish from 17. I’m a big fan of a pencil or any product in stick form. I have a bajillion lip crayons and a few blusher ones and many eye shadow sticks. They’re so handy for throwing in your bag and you don’t really need an applicator in a rush.
These sticks come in a range of eight shades. I swatched a few and really liked the rose gold look of this shade Rose Fauviste on my arm. Unfortunately I had a different experience when I applied this to my eyes. I found the pencil dragged a bit and the colour wasn’t anywhere near as intense on my lids. I’m not sure why, maybe the skin on my eyes is slightly darker. You can see the difference below.
I just found the pigment didn’t look anywhere near as strong on my eyes as I hoped and I had to go back and forth a few times to get a bit of colour. I’d imagine if you had bought one of the darker colours this might work a little better. I tried it with an eye primer (Benefit Stay Don’t Stray) and the colour was a bit more intense but still not striking. Because I have to apply so much to my lids they do feel little sticky and there is some slight creasing. The colour does last but I didn’t really like the feel of this on my lids.
On the plus side these sticks come in a nice range of colours and aren’t too pricey at €8. My advice if you’d like one of these is to maybe pick one of the darker shades to get more of an impact but I’m afraid I won’t be repurchasing one. Have you tried these? I’d be interested to hear how you got on.
