I’m not really a primer fan in general. I’m not keen on strong silicone textures and some primers are just do nothing for me – I’m looking at you MAC Prep and Prime Primer. So I always approach a primer with a sceptical look on my face. I got a dinky pot of this Benefit Stay Don’t Stray eye primer in a minis set last Christmas but it had been lingering around my stash unused. I’ve recently been facing some serious undereye darkness and was finding my concealer wasn’t getting me through the day, so I decided I’d give this a try.
This product is a little different to other eye primers in that it’s designed to use around the full eye area, both lid and undereye. Most other primers tend to be for the lid only. This primer promises to help both eyeshadows and undereye concealers stay put. This product basically feels like a slightly watery concealer. The primer is tinted and comes in two shades, the fair medium shade works well on my pale skin but might be a little dark if you are truly porcelain.
This product alone has a concealing effect and leaves behind an even canvas for shadows and concealers. I find this helps make eye shadow colours a bit more intense. This definitely helps my eye products stay on a few hours longer. I normally see wear around my eyes after lunchtime but I’d say this helps me get to the end of the working day with my shadow looking pretty decent. I also find you need to use less concealer when using this and it stops concealers from looking cakey.
While researching for this post I checked out the reviews on the Benefit website and it sounds like the full size product used to come in a pump container and now comes with a wand. Benefit customers are clearly not happy about that. As a pro pump person myself I do think all liquid face products should come with a pump!
This product isn’t cheap at €28.50 but you only need to use a tiny bit so the full size version of this would last ages. Have you tried this? I’d love to hear what you think!
