Valentines Day is coming up in a few weeks and whether you love it or loathe it there’s no getting away from it. The cards are well in the shops and the florists are getting excited. So I thought I’d round up some cute romance themed cosmetics if you want to drop a hint to your other half or just treat yourself to something pretty!
This weeks nail of the week is courtesy of Irish new kid on the block Wet n Wild! Wet n Wild is a popular budget makeup brand from the US that has recently landed in a Dunnes Stores near you. They do a fab range of high quality but pocket friendly beauty bits. I picked up the Megalast nail polish in Bite the Bullet because I thought it was a pretty good match to the Pantone Colour of the Year Radiant Orchid. What do you think? The Megalast polishes cost just €2.99 – bargain and it’s wearing really well.
I was such a lucky duck this Christmas I got some lovely bits for my makeup collection. My sister came up trumps and bought me the amazeballs Vice 2 palette from Urban Decay. You know any palette from Urban Decay is going to be exciting and I was delighted to get this one as it’s something different to the Naked range.
I was dying to get my hands on this polish for ages after I fell in love with the swatches I saw online. Flip Flop Fantasy is one of China Glazes best sellers so I ordered it before Christmas for my holiday. I was raging because the polish took ages to arrive and I didn’t get it until I was back from my hols. I mainly bought this to go on my toes but fear not I won’t treat you to a picture of my feet, I’m showcasing it on my fingers. I have tried it on my toes though and it’s a really fab shade for feet that will look great in the summer.
This shade is a bright neon coral cream. My one major gripe about this polish is it’s formula. I’m not an expert at painting nails but I’d say I know what I’m doing and I found this really hard to work with. It goes on quite stripy and if you don’t have enough polish on the brush to do a nail in one go, you will mess it up. The colour looks fab from a distance but you don’t want to get up too close as you can see from my photo! I still really like it for my toes though, nobody will be up close enough to notice streaks and if they are it’s likely I’ll kick them. You can get China Glaze polishes for around €8 online. Have you tried this? Could you get it to go on properly?!
Ah I can’t believe I’m writing a post about nail polish remover, very exciting! But I’m making an exception for this product because I really, really like it! I’m sure lots of my fellow beauty bloggers already know about this one or if you do your weekly shop in Lidl you may have discovered it already. Apologies for the photos, my camera wasn’t cooperating with me.
I wasn’t going to write a post about these because I already included these in my 2013 makeup favourites here. I decided that they deserved a full post though because they are that good. My friend Debs got me this set for Christmas, she didn’t know I’d wanted it for ages, so it was a great present.
You’re going to kill me but I’m writing about a polish you can’t get any more because Chanel has discontinued it! I had to write about it because I realised it’s the oldest nail polish I have. My friends bought me this for my birthday back in 2008! It’s as good as new though and still goes on perfectly. Kaleidoscope is a gold/pewter shade with a bit of a shimmer finish. I love it for a classy night time look. I didn’t realise how much of a collectors item the Chanel polishes are, if you REALLY want this you can buy it on eBay for about €100!! Crazy, I like it but not that much! If you like this kind of shade Max Factor Angel Nails isn’t a million miles off it but it leans more silver. What do you think?
You probably have seen me go on about my recent holiday to India, I think I may have mentioned it a few squillion times on the blog and twitter. India is such a beautiful country with a really rich and diverse culture. The people were so friendly and welcoming I can’t wait to go back.
I saw Dolly Rouge rave about this back in the summer and as a La Roche Posay fan I knew I had to try it. The product isn’t available in Ireland or the UK but you can get it in France, this just made me want it even more ha ha! My friend Lisa was on her holliers in France last year so kindly hunted down a bottle for me, it cost about €9. Here’s how I got on with it.
It’s baaaack! I’ve really missed my Nail of the Week routine what with holidays and the Christmas and all I had to take a break but it’s back with a bang for 2014.
Recently I’ve developed an obsession with getting a good holographic nail polish. I did a LOT of research and had my heart set on the discontinued China Glaze OMG polish. You can buy it for the bargain price of $50 on ebay, so no way jose. Gosh Holographic Hero was another polish that got mentioned so I hunted it down and I love it! It took about three coats to get this effect. It’s so pretty but I think I’d like it to be even more holographic!
Just before Christmas I ordered a holographic glitter from Precious Polish. Precious Polish is an independent nail polish brand set up by fellow beauty blogger Anita. She does a fab range of polishes and being a bblogger she knows what makes a good one. She also does custom polishes for bargain prices – you can find out more here. I’ve added the Holo Silver glitter polish I ordered from Anita as an accent nail here. I love this look, it really catches the eye! What do you think?
