I was recently wandering aimlessly through Penny’s, as you do, and of course had to stop at the makeup counters on my way. I was browsing the Catrice counter and out of the corner of my eye I spotted some cool looking nail varnish on a shelf near by. It was a plain silver varnish and what I though was a glitter varnish but realised was a jar of little beads. It immediately reminded me of the Ciaté Caviar manicure sets.I love a bit of nail art so I thought to myself for €3.50, I’m having that!
Well for the sake of a few euros I had great fun with this I have to say! Basically you paint your nail with the silver varnish and while it is still wet you pour the beads over the varnish and they stick to it, you can press them a little to help them stick a bit better. You’re supposed to leave the beads for about 10 minutes for them to fix fully.
Urban Decay Mariposa Palette
I do love a bargain and was very excited to see an Urban Decay palette pop up as a Groupon deal. It was half price at €18 and I think about 300 of them were sold of course and the deal sold out. What a bargain – did you get it? I now assume Urban Decay must be discontinuing it though because last time I checked it was half price on the US site. I thought I’d give it a road test anyway as a lot of the shadows are sold individually.
I do love Urban Decay eye shadows, they’re so strongly pigmented and they have such an amazing choice of colours. I own the original Naked Palette and a few of the single shadows and they never fail to impress.
Crazy for Coral!
I recently did a big clear out of my nail varnish bag – I didn’t throw anything out by the way – I clearly have a hoarding problem, it was more of a nail varnish review really Turns out I have eight coral nail varnishes, not including the one I have twice unknown to myself. Coral is one of my favourite nail colours for summer, punchy and bright.
So I thought I’d show you my coral collection and you might see something you like, apologies for the childlike nail painting, I for some reason painted them in the darkest corner in the apartment and then took the photos in daylight, rookie mistake!
Catrice BB Allround Foundation
BB, Schmeee B…. is it getting a bit yea whatever? And now we have CC creams and probably DD,EE and FF creams, enough already.
Now I do love a trend as much as the next person – in fact I am a total beauty ho – but I’m still wondering will the BB’s be (ha ha -sorry) a permanent fixture or will they gradually be discontinued onto the beauty fad rubbish heap.
I liked the idea of the BB cream and my first investment was, like most people, the Garnier one. I kind of/sort of liked it but the colour was just a bit off and made me look a little too shiny – on the chip pan shiny side not the healthy glow shiny side. I wasn’t totally bought in and thought maybe the BB’s were just a fad, not for me.
Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel
I recently got a bit of shock news about my skin apparently it has a bit of a temper!
I had been feeling my skin was getting a bit dull and was starting to show its age so I went for two sessions of microdermabraision and started using Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant (which I do like but have learnt not to use too liberally). I thought I was getting good results but my skin started to get oilier. A problem I’ve never had.
Any who I had booked a day at the spa (The Spa at Mount Wolesley – lovely) with mam and had a Mini Elemis Facial as part of it. The therapist asked me loads of questions about my skin regime and told me I was starting to show signs of Rosacea – I had a little internal shriek and thought WTF???
